The Voice of Horror and Queen of the Pumpkin Patch, Venus de Vilo has been shocking audiences in Ireland and internationally since 2011. Whether it’s with her unique brand of BubbleGlumShock anthems, live shows, albums and music videos or her increasingly creepy and gothic art work and retro DIY zines, you always know you’re in for a frightfully fun and freaky experience! Not afraid to bulldoze down those artistic barriers, December 2015 will see Venus de Vilo’s first ever Frightmas album and accompanying hand-made illustrated lyrics book: Slashing Through The Snow.
What got you in to independent publishing?
I hate censorship and if being able to publish exactly what I want, how I want to and when I want it done means going indie, then sign me up and strap me in!

What do you make/publish?
I make/publish horror zines. All rather gory and gothic, with a slash of boundary smashing ¬†wicked dark humour. Most of them are original stories and creations, some are Japanese animation inspired fan-art horror poetry booklets, some are fully illustrated lyrics zines (I’m also a rather infamous musician too y’see.) some are weird and awful tween goth poetry abominations and others are just terribly random.

Who/what inspires you?
The dark.

Who are your audience?

Have you exhibited at the Dublin Zine Fair before? How did it go?
Yes, my very first artistic outing was at Dublin Zine Fair 2015 and it went fabulously! Needless to say I have increased my zine back-catalogue from 1 to a considerably larger amount! (13)

Tell us a joke!
Why didn’t the skeleton go to the party? He had no body to go with!
